Follow the recommendations provided by your veterinary behaviour team whenever they differ from the general information on this website. Enrichment may support wellbeing but is not a substitute for appropriate assessment or treatment.
Adapt activities and supervise
Enrichment must be adapted to each animal’s medical status, physical abilities, sensory abilities, behaviour, and emotional state. Owners are responsible for appropriate supervision and safe use of toys, food enrichment, equipment, environments, and activities. Stop or modify an activity when it causes discomfort, fear, excessive frustration, or conflict.
